Urban heroic viticulture and winemaking are a bit of a hidden gem among the chaos of traffic, houses, and the dense population. WebbThe Phlegraean Fields are an area of west Campania known since ancient times for his “lively” volcanic activity. There have been several, violent eruptions from about 60,000 years ago on, along with a long series of episodes considered “minor” in some cases. The area is now considered a single supervolcano.

The area of the caldera consists of 24 craters and volcanic edifices; most of them lie under water. WebbThe caldera of the Phlegraean Fields extends from Monte di Procida to Posillipo and also includes an underwater part in the Gulf of Pozzuoli. Within the caldera, more than 70 eruptions have occurred over the past 15,000 years, forming volcanic buildings, craters and volcanic lakes that are still visible, such as Astroni, Solfatara and Lake Averno.
