Webb4 okt. 2024 · This photograph was taken October 4, 2024 showing the impact of Hurricane Ian on the dune vegetation fronting the Gulf of Mexico. The "stream" on the photo is where a dune walkover access had been. The tidal surge removed the boardwalk and scoured the unvegetated area to form the "stream." WebbRight down the road Matlacha headed out to pine island is still pretty bad, much of it was wiped away from surge. Fort myers beach still looks devastated. Was there a couple weeks ago, cars in retention ponds, houses still sitting as piles of ruble or half standing. Took a boat over to Sanibel right after the storm, but haven’t been back since.
