Awhile back, I calculated expected damage values of different builds. Even with sneak attack, a damage-optimized rogue did a bit worse than a damage-optimized fighter. Without sneak attack, the rogue wasn't even in the same ballpark. Oh, and in any case, the fighter had better HP and at least as good or better AC.
